Video | Get Focused In Your Service

Commentary

The Kung Fu Edition

Before we get started: we called this post the Kung Fu Edition because something happened at the end of this video where the timing was off between the audio and the video giving it an effect that is reminiscent of an old Karate movie.

“Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed” – Mark 1:35

Get Focused

God teaches us through the scriptures when we study his Word. As I meditated on this scripture today I could clearly see Jesus’s commitment and the discipline he had in his service to the Father. It also showed the importance of prayer in the life of a believer.

As I meditated on this verse I could see his strengths and my weaknesses. Jesus was focused. He was disciplined. He was fully committed to his work. He set aside time that was free from worldly distractions and communicated with the Father through prayer. All the things that I currently lack in my walk with God. It was a clear picture of the contrast in our spiritual service.

“Do not offer any part of yourself to sin as an instrument of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer every part of yourself to him as an instrument of righteousness” – Romans 6:13

The world may not know our truth but God knows all things (Psalm 44:21). Even with the best intentions it is easy to get distracted by the things of this world. The world is full of enticements that distract. That causes us to lose focus. That requires us to have discipline and self-control. The greatest battle that we all face is the fight against ourselves. To do the things that we know we should do and not do the things that we know we shouldn’t. Thank God for the blood of Jesus that free us from the law of sin and death

Let us all strive to be more focused in our Christian service. God bless you all.
